Generate a printable SVG fretboard template with all fret positions for any scale length.
Choose a scale preset — from 24.75" (628.65 mm) and 25.5" (647.7 mm) guitar scales up to 34" (863.6 mm) bass — or type any scale between 200 mm and 1000 mm. Set the fret count (1 to 36) and the board width; the form opens at 22 frets and 56 mm.
Every slot position comes from the twelve-tone equal temperament rule: distance from nut = scale − scale ÷ 2^(n/12). On a 647.7 mm scale the first fret falls 36.35 mm from the nut, and the twelfth lands at exactly half the scale, 323.85 mm.
The downloadable SVG is drawn with 1 unit equal to 1 mm: a heavy nut line at zero, dashed board edges, fret numbers in a 6 mm label band, and a 5 mm overhang past the last fret. Print at 100% (actual size) to preserve the true 1:1 layout.
From the twelve-tone equal temperament relation: distance from nut = scale − scale ÷ 2^(n/12). Each successive fret shortens the remaining vibrating length by the twelfth root of two, which is what keeps every semitone in tune along the board.
At exactly half the scale length, because 2^(12/12) = 2. On the default 647.7 mm (25.5") scale that puts the octave fret 323.85 mm from the nut line, while the first fret sits 36.35 mm from the nut.
The file is generated with 1 SVG unit equal to 1 mm and explicit millimeter width and height attributes, so choosing 100% or "actual size" in the print dialog reproduces the layout 1:1. Any "fit to page" setting rescales the geometry and invalidates the template.
A heavier nut line at position zero, dashed lines along both board edges, a fret number beneath each slot inside a 6 mm label band, and a 5 mm overhang beyond the last fret. Fret coordinates are written into the file at 0.001 mm precision.
